Dear Friend, thank you for finding us!

It is a joy to share with you the story of this Company born within Ananda Sangha India,
called
Anjali Khadi Clothing.
Thank you for blessing it with your reading!

The photos you'll see on the next pages, will show you glimpses of an adventure
come out of an invitation by
Swami Kriyananda, founder of the Ananda Brotherhood Colonies
worldwide, to create a business in order to help financially his Work in India for his spiritual Master
Paramhansa Yogananda.
When Swamiji felt the inspiration to serve his Master in India, and here he moved after serving him
for almost 60 years in the USA and Europe, he knew that economical help would be necessary
to materialize this,  thus thought about something that could help with Prosperity not only Ananda,
but the same Land where he moved to.

This is how Anjali Khadi Clothing Pvt Ltd came into the scene!
Founded on a spirit of anjali, the act of offering to God,
 by an
Italian disciple to whom Swamiji proposed the idea,
this business was created intending to spread beyond India through clothes and products,
the spirit lying behind some of India's most essential traditions:
hand spinning and hand weaving, dyeing with herbs and plants,
using Organic cotton grown with the help of Nature and not of chemicals, respecting
People and Nature in any form, in a spirit of  Ahimsa, the immortal principle of non-violence
which has blessed this Land since ever,  till the more recent and well known Gandhian philosophy.

Following this spirit of antique simplicity, purity, silence, peace, contentment, humility,  love for God,
many windows started to open.  Many realities lying within the Country of India, showed unknown doors.
This is how our lines of clothes, shawls, cushion covers and linen for home started to blossom out of
Khadi cottons and silks, Organic cotton with vegetable dyes and Ahimsa silk,
the silk made without killing butterflies.

Thank you for joining us in this inspiring journey.

This is how Khadi cottons and silks, the famous hand spun and hand woven fabrics of
Gandhian memory, one of the  silent weapons of India's peaceful struggle for freedom,  became
Yoga Clothes for western people, as a symbolic  bridge between such different worlds and
were named
Ananda India Yoga Line,  willing to be a humble channel of that same spirit with which
they have been woven for centuries, and helping villagers to have a dignified income by a job done
at home,  without searching improbable fortunes on the grey streets of enormous, difficult cities.
From Rajasthan, West Bengal, Bihar, to the west!

And this is how the cotton organically grown without any chemical pesticide or fertilizer in
Madhya Pradesh, Central India,  has become modern yoga clothes, bath towels, bed linen, good
for the 1,000 families of farmers who no longer get diseases or commit suicide to pay
debts in order to buy chemicals, good for people who use these clothes and linen, totally pure
for any skin,  being even bleached naturally and dyed with vegetable colors, by the antique methods
of   Gujarat, western India. And good for the very Land where they are grown,
helped in such ways to remain fertile!

Last but not least, our Ahimsa Silk range of fabrics woven without killing the butterflies in
their state of pupae within cocoons, unlike during the normal procedure of silk production, and
become soft, beautiful cushions for meditation or to simply rest the neck, and shawls, stoles, scarves,
throws, for people who want to wear and surround themselves with vibrations of ahimsa
the 'non violence' proclaimed by Patanjali as one of the means to be one with God.

The Ahimsa Silk Project we support,  helps 25,000 tribal families of the poor State of
Jharkhand, central-east India, to have a dignified livelihood, by harvesting cocoons, spinning and
weaving these beautiful fabrics; helps  over 20,000 acres of natural forests to remain alive
and well maintained,  instead of disappearing out of being cut in order for poor tribes to sell
wood, and over the past 3 years, has planted 3,000 acres of plantation forest for cocoons harvesting.
